I HAFF DUAL AUDIO: Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva v2 (now with dub, correct fonts and names)

We're rather irked that no one has made a good dub release yet, so here is a dual-audio release, based off of the UK DVDISO on Demonoid. The official sub has also been ripped and added, and our subs have been updated with the correct names. On the bright side, we got "Melina" right (but just about everything else wrong).

The old video source is still used, because we can't encode videos, and the UK DVD honestly looks worst (comparescreenshots isn't working for me for some reason). Here's the UK DVD:

Here's the Japanese DVD:

Someone could probably run some sharpening filter on the UK DVD if the BD still isn't uploaded, but that someone isn't me.

Also, the audio might be slightly off, since PAL != NTSC. In the end, I settled on an offset of 1000ms and stretch by 1.042727 (no idea why it isn't just 29.970 / 25), but I'm not completely sure. Edit: It certainly sounds fine, though.

Edit 2: A lot people are getting frightened by this. When I said that it might be slightly off, I meant a margin of error of about +/- 30 ms.

Anyways, enough technical talk, here's the downloads:

This time, we'll maintain the DDLs so that there won't be any fiascos:

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva v2 DDL Part 1 (IF)
Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva v2 DDL Part 2 (IF)
Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva v2 DDL Part 3 (IF)
Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva v2 DDL Part 4 (IF)
Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva v2 DDL Part 5 (IF)
Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva v2 DDL Part 6 (IF)

No patches because it's pretty much a complete remux. I guess you could mux the audio in for yourself if you wanted to, but again, it's not offset correctly. Use these settings on mkvtoolnix:

And no, we're not planning any 720p release.

  2. Ok, so I downloaded the direct download of the video, and the video is fine but the audio is super choppy. but when i download the mp4 of the audio, the audio in that file is fine. fix? also what media player with what codecs did you test this on?

  3. I tried it with CCCP and with nightly builds of ffdshow-tryouts + MPC-HC, and they worked fine both times.

  4. Actually, I realized that even after fixing the audio, the audio is shorter than the video, so the audio is never right on, is there anyway you can release it with the UKDVD video, so that the audio lines p perfectly? Please?

  5. The mkv lined it up perfectly. I didn't tamper with the audio itself since it was easier to just offset and stretch using the settings on the mkv itself.

    Please get CCCP.

  11. Thank you so much for making this. But I have a problem. I have a friend that wants to watch this, but does not have a computer. I have been trying to convert it so it plays on a DVD player, but with no luck. The audio is always out of sync, and it gets progressively worst as it plays.

Is there any way you could help me out? Maybe post a version with the original Uk video? Or help me find the UK DVDISO .

  12. Okay, first off, you are amazing for doing this.
Second, why is the audio so choppy? Is it because of my player or what? I am using VLC. Thanks again!

  13. Thanks.

VLC is frowned upon in the fansub community for generally pissing fansub encoders off. It used to suck at ASS subs and h.264 video, and it still hasn't fixed everything. In other words, it's a jack of all trades but a master of none.

    May I suggest CCCP?

  15. Yeah, the dub track file has expired. Can someone reupload it? Downloaded the wrong one. Would be faster to mux in the English audio myself.

  16. Hi. Thanks for this great release. However I would like to know, how do I add delay and stretch to the english audio track directly without using mkvtoolnix? I'm rencoding this video for my psp and the audio just doesn't sync with an mp4 container. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
