I don't quite understand why people thought that the last part was confusing. In the end, Daigo and Eriko ended up in a different world than the one they had spent chapters 3-10 in. Nevertheless, this might mean that I didn't make the translation clear enough or something.If it makes your brains hurt less, don't take the technicalities of the plot seriously. IMO, the whole parallel worlds thing is more of a metaphor than anything else.

What do you mean the ended up in the world different from chapters 3-10? They're still in the prime world with a live Kumanoi and the other girl was in good terms with Eri. They never got to return to their own freakin' world.
ReplyDeleteWell yea, but this world has their parents while the previous world doesn't. It's not a complete undo of everything, but it's definitely an improvement.

actually the translation was clear, u can read how Eriko is saying that they have to do their best for "this mom and dad" and they're hoping that her mom and dad are living with other eriko and daigo, so for me was so clear ^^

======
Eriko found her boring day of caretaking her brother Daigo turn to strange-phenomenon that take this sibling jump from...
World[A] (their original World, her father and mother are distanced?)
to...
World[B] (the Sea town with Kumanoi, 'Dead One' plus her Puppy)
After wondering in World[B] for sometime, they return to starting point at the and somehow connect to her mom[A] via public-telephone with the use of telephone-card and think that everything return to normal.
So after they able to return home and found out after that they are yet slip through...
World[A'] (ch3 - World that their parent are missing plus Kumanoi alive but her puppy die and Eriko made up with Ookubo)
So they focus on how to return to their World-[A] with help from Macho[A'] (good guy)
Eriko learn that her parent-[A] are very worrysick about the siblings and maybe start to regret that she hate her parent before, with courage she can make up with her friend Ookubo, with her love for her brother she then punish the bad boy for Daigo, and Macho is very good guy.
But in the end Eriko and Daigo can't find a way to return to World-[A] and have to separate because of finance problem (not have parent to feed them), and are run out of money so it over for their communication to mom[A] (can't refill the card huh ?).
The last thing that Eriko learn from this is something very precious can't return to the same (everything is better in this world but no Mom & Dad), she become stranger to the world she live in until...
World[A''] (ending of ch10 - her parent come back from disapearing but not original, and her parent are having good-relationship)

When i read to this part, i'm crying inside, thought of something that i done/not done in the past and can't take it back, many regret that happen.
"something very precious can't return to the same or stay the same" and "this life don't have a reset"
But at least i'm save because of Epilogue.

======
World-[C] (ending of ch11/Epilogue)
1.Eriko return to their home and sure of her brother is Daigo[A], but her parent[C] are not original but at least her parent are happy together.
2.Eriko-Ookubo[C] are at not-friend relationship, but now Eriko make dicision and make up with Ookubo just like in [A'].
3.She accept that eventhough her parent[C] are not the same as parent[A] but their love for their childs are the same (yeah if your parent love you, they will never change like friend or lover), and she learn to love and cherish her parent now.
4.She still wondering how her parent[A] doing and wish for Eriko/Daigo[A'] that not here to end up in World[A] for thier parent instead.

Yeah so bittersweet about lose-regret-acceptance-changing
dunno if this is what author intend to give it to us, but this is my intrepret and it very good for me.
ps. Daigo still shy around Kumanoi huh ?, i wish for Daigo/Kumanoi -w-.
ps2. Eriko share her secret twice to Macho([A']/[C]), that a start so i cheer for Eri/Macho ^w^.
