I'm Not Sure What I Should Title This

All good things come to an end. I knew this, so I wanted my adventure in scanlation to come to a graceful end by slowly parting with every series I translate. However, other aspects of my life have accelerated at a faster pace than I imagined, so I simply can't translate at the same pace, or even half or one-fourth the speed.

When I realized this months ago, I thought that I could just continue at this slow pace, if everyone would let me. However, I started to notice that the fact that I'm behind on translations makes me anxious (I should add that no commenter is at fault here; it's all stress that I give myself). Moreover, I've suffered from several bouts of depression during the last two months from my stressful (but fun) new life. I've been advised to remove sources of stress and anxiety, so here we are.

There's no point to pretending that I can still scanlate 6 series, so I'm dropping:
  • Ryuushika Ryuushika - I love ABe's work, but I don't enjoy scanlating this any more.
  • Boku Dake ga Inai Machi - I would love to continue this, but there's simply too much dialog.
  • Pokemon Special (including BW) - This would've hurt me the most if there was no successor to me, but I think Golden Pigeot did a good job. If you're Golden Pigeot, I'd love for you to contact me. I can teach you many things.
Arpeggio of Blue Steel and 7o3x will remain. I still haven't talked to Happy Scans about Master Keaton Remaster (and my raws for chapter 5 still haven't come in).

So yeah. After watching last night's episode, I was reluctant to break any vows, but I have to get this off my chest, even if I get damned for this.

  1. From your work I've just read Pokemon Special, but wanted to chime in and say it was appreciated.

Hope everything goes well for you, thanks for contributing as much as you have for such a fun series.

  7. Well, I'm pleased as punch that "my" series-Arpeggio-will be continued.

That said, A/n/on, I'm sorry that you're having problems in life, and I want you to know that, as a fellow depression sufferer, my feelings are with you. I want you to know that it WILL get better, and that somehow, myself and a lot of other people are here for you. Your work with Arpeggio helped me get through a VERY rough spot, so I want to help you get through yours. I can honestly say that there have been times when the only thing giving me the will to live was looking forward to the next chapter from you. I'm better now, but it was certainly rough, and you certainly helped. If there is anything I can do, just post here (or e-mail me), and I'll do what I can.

To everyone who is losing "their" series: Don't be mean. A/n/on could easily have never taken them up to begin with, and could also have easily dropped them at any time with out any notice or warning or anything. This is something that is done at someone else's leisure, and makes them no profit. Your series may be picked up again in the future (either here or elsewhere), and good will now might just ease that along.

PS-sorry to be a hypocrite, but do you have any timeline on Arpeggio 45?

  8. Aww.. I'm really disappointed you dropped Boku Dake ga Inai Machi. At first I thought you need help at cleaning and typesetting because i'm all up for that. But that's not the case, it's all about translating. I can't help with that since I only just a beginner in Japanese language.
I hope there'll be another group who can scanlate this great manga.

    1. You can relax Team Special Scans has prepared for this since mid-April and they will continue scanlating Pokémon Special.
Team Special Scans are recruiting. They really need more Japanese translators since they only have one at the moment. They are also recruiting cleaners, typesetters and Japanese translation checkers + some Chinese and French translators / translation checkers. They also need donations for magazine raws and magazine raw providers.

Thanks you for all of your hard work /a/non! You will be missed. I hope you get better!

  21. It's okay /a/non! YOU'VE MADE SUCH A DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE. Thank you for all you've done for the Pokemon fandom, and though I'm sad that you're giving it up, I understand. Don't give up whatever you're doing now and keep being happy kay! Ganbatte /a/non! Don't let life get to you. When life gives you lemons, throw them back to it and tell it to make its own lemonade!
So I'll end here. Thank you for all those wonderful translations and thank you for telling us this. I've written an email about this and I'm sure I wasn't the only. So thank you again for telling us about this! I still love you and good luck in your future endeavours (; don't give up reading Pokemon though! I believe it's too big a part in anyone's life as a fan of it. Goodbye /a/non, and thank you again (:

  23. Much like everyones comments thus far, I'd like to thank you for all the 'scanlating' you've done for however many years it's been now. The quality and consistancy of your work has been my reason for returning to this blog for the last three or so years that I've been reading your PokeSpe scanlations, so thankyou and well done for keeping this project alive, even through times of personal troubles and the unforseeable future of donations for the raws!
Also, to those who have donated, thankyou also, as you have all been just as important to keeping PokeSpe's boat afloat!
Since I'm a student I couldn't offer financial support, so instead I'll honor /a/non's work by reading some of the other series he has scanlated / is scanlating, since I have so far only read Pokemon Special.
    Have a good one /a/non! ;)

And I'm happy to see you're continuing with 7O3X! On a blunter note, I assume you will be dropping this too sometime in the future?

Hope things go well for you, and I'm sure no-one minds you dropping some (or all) series. Do what's needed!
