Not that I'm ungrateful, but does the fact that you've done this scanlation before the remaining PokeSpe vol40 chapters mean the 'queue' on the site is not in any kind of order? I SO wanna read that last chapter in English...
I'm bad at making schedules. First, I overestimated myself again. Second, series like Arpeggio are hard to place since I don't know exactly when the scanner uploads them. Third, some friends dragged me off to AX. Fourth, Arpeggio is just simply easier to translate, which is important for me, since I just spent the last few days with zero sleep. PS takes quite a bit of typesetting work.
Cool. No worries. Thanks for your hard work. About PS, I wonder where Saque ran off to..? Her Darkrai seems to appear later in the volume, but Saque herself disappears again. Maybe Kusaka will bring her into the BW storyline somehow.
Looking at the list of resolutions of visitors, I don't see that many people who can really benefit from it. Even if people with 1366x768 and 1440x900 monitors turn them sideways, the image would just get limited by the height, since their aspect ratio is higher than the ideal A4 aspect ratio (1.414:1). The resolution that would benefit the most is 1680x1050, which would only need around 1450h.
I'm starting to release raw scans and scanlations at 1920pix high on the basis that in a couple of years pretty much everyone will be using screens with at least that resolution (if they can pivot) and if they want to look at what I've released at that time they're going to have a better experience.
I got into digital photography back when a 1Mpixel camera was a big deal. Regular photographers reckoned that was overkill unless you wanted to print every picture as a 10x8 which they thought unlikely. The idea there would be LCDs with a Mpixel resolution and more at affordable prices in the future and that you might want to view those pictures again didn't seem to register with them.
Data point: my main screen is a 27" Dell U2711, 2560 x 1440. Cost a chunk but well worth it, especially when working on or viewing scanlations.
If they have a monitor that big, then they might as well get the 2400h release. I scanlate and release at that size for archival into the far future, so I don't have to keep bumping it up.
Arpeggio is arguably the easiest manga to translate and edit among the series that I'm scanlating now (PS is really densely packed; Ryuushika is just hard to do for some reason, probably typesetting). The book is ~70 pages, IIRC. It'll probably take like 6-8 hours total, which will probably span 2 days.
Awesomeness!! Since 70 pages is rather long, maybe you could split it up into two or more sections (based on whatever makes sense-I don't mind a bunch of 15 page posts) and then posting these sections as their finished. Loving this series always, and looking forward towards more Takao goodness!
~100GBP on one book @o@ !!1! I can get enough supply of stationary and line-pads for my 4 years course for that much.
ReplyDeletethanks guy for new releases
ReplyDeleteAre all submarine mental models lolis? And finally! New cast members.
ReplyDeletethank you

Been meaning to ask this.
ReplyDeleteCan we have at least 1400px or 1600px instead of 1200px for the LQ please?

DeleteI'll think about it.

DeleteScore, thanks for the release! =)
ReplyDeleteAnd its really well done to boot XD
You're so awesome for doing this manga. Thanks, /a/nonymous.
ReplyDeleteTotal awesomeness. Love you and this manga. Thousands of Maya-kisses for you.
ReplyDeleteBTW-do you happen to have a time-frame on getting the book translated? And what chapter should it be numbered as?
Did you get the book mostly to translate?
ReplyDeleteIf so... damn, y-you're just too nice Anon. Thank you.
The seller seems to have taken a long time to ship to the proxy, so it's just getting shipped from the proxy now.
ReplyDeleteHow long does it take to translate an Arpeggio chapter/volume, and how long is the book?
