    The story looks like Frankenstein written by Philip K. Dick.

    (SPOILER!) I think that character's name means "two girls" too, because everybody in her group is somewhat dual.

      I thought her name "Nico" was a reference to the video site nicovideo.jp duo to her special use of technology with magic(though her magic specialty is to create clones and other duplicates).
