and kyouhei replied that it's not because ships are female and started to explain but was cut short
well it's only my proposition
maybe because some ships had female shaped statue in the front that symbolize Andromeda sacrifice to ward off sea monsters and bad luck
I predict the next chapter will resolve the current cliffhanger and tease the beginning of Iwo Jima. Sorry.

Interestingly, the plot of Arpeggio and Ark Performance's other strip, Return of Johnny Riden, currently both have a lot of politics and several armed rival factions about to arrive at an island at the same time (Iwo Jima and the 6th Environmental Improvement Plant).
